I had a fantastic stay at a lovely ryokan in Gunma. the location was very convenient, being close to the train station and the famous onsen. the staff were friendly and spoke excellent English, making me feel welcome. the room was spacious and comfortable, with a separate sitting area and sleeping area. the bathroom was clean and well-maintained. the breakfast had a good selection, though I would have preferred more traditional Japanese options. it was a memorable experience.
The internet connection was unreliable, which was a bit frustrating at times.

It was huge and quiet room. The breakfast had good choice of food, like yogurt, sausages and milk. Attractive and competitive value for money considering prices in Kusatsu.

We loved the friendly and English-speaking staff who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The hotel facilities were well-maintained and we enjoyed borrowing winter boots for a walk outside. The free ice cream, coffee, and tea kept us entertained during the snowy day. With a 4-year-old, we appreciated being accommodated on the ground floor near the bathroom and the children's changing area. The location was perfect, being halfway between the train station and downtown. The receptionist was extremely helpful and provided great recommendations. Our room was spacious with a cozy sitting room and separate sleeping area.
Nothing, all excellent.

We had a lovely romantic escape at a traditional Japanese hotel. the staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us great recommendations for local restaurants and activities. the location was perfect, in the heart of town and close to the train station. We especially enjoyed borrowing the winter boots provided by the hotel to explore the snowy town.
The breakfast options didn't suit our taste, as we would have preferred less processed items and more traditional Japanese dishes. We also had some trouble with the internet connection, as it kept cutting out or failing to work altogether.

The staff was incredibly friendly and spoke English fluently, which made communication a breeze. They even arranged a room on the ground floor for us and our 4-year-old, which was super convenient. We also loved the fact that they provided winter boots for us to borrow, perfect for our short walks outside in the snow-covered surroundings. The free ice cream, coffee, and tea were a nice touch and kept us entertained during a snowed-in day.
We were given a room on the smoking floor, which was a bit of a disappointment. It would have been better if there were room heaters, as the weather was extremely cool during our stay.
